The Suburbs

Microclinic, you give me that creepy feeling. That which others might call gnawed at nostalgia. The feeling I felt as a child in those moments mother retired the vacuum cleaner, to spin-up an old Leo Sayer LP and do the ironing. And, the point at which I would retreat to the far reaches of our suburban block - beyond the Hills Hoist - sporting a BB Gun, some fireworks and the propitiatory Action Man.

"I'm standing by the window where the light is strong..." -- Leonard Cohen.

If only my parents had better musical taste. The BB Gun would have made short work of Abba and Barbra Streisand. If only I had known a Vintage "Action Man" set would be going for over £150 these days on e-Bay, and Barbra Streisand - Greatest Hits Volume 2 - LP (1978) would be pushing £3, and one can now make a confident bid for Leo Sayer's 'Endless Flight' Vinyl LP at £1.99 + £2.99 Postage.
